Use the hydrometer to take your Specific Gravity, Final Gravity and ABV readings on your beer or wine.
Put a sample of must, wine, or beer in a hyrdometer testing jar or similar clear glass or plastic container. Spin hydrometer to dislodge gas bubbles. At eye level, read the figure on the stem of the hydrometer where the surface of the liquid cuts across the stem. This figure will tell you how much sugar is in your wine/beer and the potential alcohol.
