You want to use a stainless steel or porcelain coated brew pot that is at least a gallon or two larger than the amount of beer you are brewing for the best results. You can use a smaller brew pot, but must calculate the correct amount of STERILE water to add after the boil to meet your target amount and or primary/starting original gravity. You also want to make sure the brew pot is very clean with no signs of internal rust.
Rust in your brew pot will give your beer an undesirable metallic flavor.
